OUR MISSION AND VALUES

About Kintsugi Heroes

Our life experiences are like the golden threads in the ancient art of Kintsugi, binding and beautifying our stories. Kintsugi Heroes is a community where people share their life stories about overcoming adversity to offer hope and inspiration to people who may be experiencing similar challenges.

Access our Stories

Stories are one of the oldest and most powerful ways we understand ourselves and the world around us. They help us share experiences, pass down traditions, and keep hope alive. Stories have been around since the beginning of time, crossing all cultural and geographic boundaries. Kintsugi Heroes offers free, uplifting content that inspires and connects people.

You can access our stories through video/audio podcasts, radio broadcasts (via Vision Australia), photographic exhibitions, events, books and short films. To find powerful stories from those who have faced challenges and come out stronger on the other side.

Kintsugi Heroes Podcast

Kintsugi Heroes conversations are the stories of everyday people who have found a way through challenges or adversity to achieve something inspirational to fellow humans on similar journeys

Alpine Series

Kintsugi Heroes has partnered with the Myrtleford Neighbourhood Centre to capture the overcoming adversity stories of some of the Alpine local “heroes” who were impacted by the Black Summer bushfires.

Beyond the Deluge Series

In 2022, a massive flood hit Wollombi and Broke. In this series, the Singleton Neighbourhood Centre and Kintsugi Heroes team up to share their stories of resilience and how the community supported each other during and beyond the floods.

Connecting Seniors Series

With its focus on fostering community and reducing isolation, Connecting Seniors emphasises the value of sharing personal experiences, particularly for older adults who may feel disconnected.

Australian Carers Series

Australian carers support loved ones facing challenges but often feel isolated. Vinay Nair, with Carers Victoria and Kerrie Atherton, launched the Kintsugi Heroes podcast to share their inspiring stories and raise awareness about unpaid carers’ experiences.

Animals & Us Series

Animals & Us is our new series highlighting the profound relationships between humans and animals. Through heartfelt storytelling, we explore how animals have saved lives, offered emotional support, and shaped human experiences in powerful ways.

River Murray Flood Series

In this special limited series of Kintsugi Heroes, John Milham sits down with members of the Riverlands community and gives them space to share their experiences of their personal adversity and community resilience. It’s only through connection and empathy that there can be a path to recovery.

From There To Here Series

This podcast presents stories from Australia-based immigrants and refugees, along with insights from migration experts and professionals. Our aim is to counter the lack of visibility of their experiences, by providing a platform that amplifies their authentic stories and educates us all about their real challenges.

Alongside Film Series

Alongside is a short film series exploring adversity, healing, and the animals who stand with us.
Developed and directed by Christopher Ireland for Kintsugi Heroes, these films remind us we’re never truly alone. Every story shared has the power to change a life.
